Spring Hockey School

 

 Our Program: Technical - Tactical-Transferable

Our purpose of Spring is to be obsessed with development all while fostering joy and love for hockey.

​

Technical phase: focuses on fine tuning physical skills such as skating, shooting, passing, puck handling, and contact. 

​

Tactical phase: focuses on the technique of frequent game situations such as angling, board battles, timing, scoring, and defending.

​

Transferable phase: teamwork in preparation for a Memorial Day Tournament!

​

Though skills will be slowed down and taught in each phase (hockey school style), the majority of the Spring development will be done through decision making heavy games.

​

Decision Making Heavy Training and Why?

1. Decision making is the biggest separating factor of players who make higher ​levels and those who don't. 

​

2. By strategically placing randomness in drills and  constraints in games, we can distort the game and drills to cause more frequent recurrence of desired learning situations. Thus, it allows players to recognize and make great decisions in important game situations.

​

3. Studies show adding randomized patterns or what we're calling 'decision making drills' contribute to better learning retention, better game application, and more athlete engagement.

​

4. More compete+more engagement=more fun!
